Brick x Brick was a public art performance that built human “walls” against misogyny from August 2016-January 2020. During the wall performances, participants wore brick-patterned jumpsuits adorned with colorful brick patches bearing statements of misogynistic violence made by Donald Trump.
Placing divisive words on the jumpsuits was a symbol of our resistance and determination to maintain control over our bodies. By linking hands to form community walls of individuals, we subverted the harmful messages. When standing in wall formation, we held silent space that amplified our message and built unity through passive participation with the audience. One of a kind Brick x Brick jumpsuit—a unique, handmade, snapshot of history—reflects a commitment to the ongoing struggle for our freedoms.
